Beware of summertime sun

The summer has been good to use but unfortunately, the sun hasn’t been! The sun has 3 types of UV rays. UVA, UVB& UVC; only 2 of these rays make it to earth but that it still enough to hurt us. UVA & UVB are forms of radiation & when we lay out in the sun we are exposing ourselves to them.

Sun Block vs the Sun

It is important to be mindful that the suns rays can be dangerous if we are protecting ourselves correctly! Sunblock is the main way to stay safe while in the sun. However, did you know there are two types of sunblock? Chemical & Mineral sunblock. Chemical sunblock uses a different variation of chemicals to block out the suns rays from hurting our skin. This type of sunblock hurts marine life & coral reefs we recommend using mineral sunblock if possible. Mineral sunblock uses natural mineral woven together to protect you from the suns rays.

Is sunburn even that dangerous?

YES! Sunburn is an injury by radiation. All radiation-related injuries are very dangerous. Although we have all experienced sunburn in our lives it does not mean that it is no big deal. Acute burns will have symptoms of:

  • Redness on skin
  • Tender to the touch
  • Peeling of skin

Acute burns can be solved by buying lotion with Aloe vera. This will help with the pain & cool down your skin. More serious sunburns/sun poisoning are:

  • Blisters
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Loss of sight
  • Puss
  • Extreme irritation
  • Burning sensation
